Squamish Amateur Radio Club

Squamish, British Columbia, Canada

Located  in the heart of the scenic Sea to Sky corridor, approx. halfway between Vancouver and Whistler; Squamish is home to a number of dedicated radio amateurs. This volunteer club handles communications for  local bike races and sporting events and also serves the community as an integral resource for the Provincial Emergency Program.  In the event of a wide-scale civil disaster, Squamish amateurs are well prepared to support emergency communications for the community.

The membership maintains a 2 meter VHF repeater on 147.00+ MHz (77.0 Hz tone access), and UHF repeater on 442.650+ MHz (77.0 Hz tone access) with a footprint extending from Horseshoe Bay to Whistler. The local IRLP Node 1147, is accessed through the repeater; and APRS is operational in the area.

73 and best regards from the Squamish Amateur Radio Club.

      Hi James,
We don’t have any regularly scheduled nets at the moment.
The club does handle communications for the local bike races throughout the year; at which time we do have an organized net.
Not a bad idea actually. Maybe we should do a weekly or monthly net…?
I think I will table the idea at the next annual meeting.
You can usually raise someone on our repeater if you are in the area.
At the moment the frequency is 147.000 (+) 100Hz tone VA7XJ EDIT: Note that the current tone is 77Hz
      Thanks for the question.

        Hello Russel,
Please note that the cover page for the SARC says, and I quote “2 Meter VHF Repeater on 147.000 (77 Hz. tone access). Further in the e-mail string you refer to 100 hz. tone. I am working on the 100 hz tone model. Recommend we change the SARC page to refer to the correct tone. Alex

        Hi Alex,
The current tone for the Squamish repeater is 77Hz, not 100Hz as stated in the previous comments.
I have edited the comment to avoid confusion.
        Thanks for catching that,
